Boosting digital connectivity in the Pacific

Overview

This project will boost digital connectivity, fundamental to the economic and security needs of the geographically remote Pacific islands.

Digital Governance and Digital Connectivity are two of the seven priority areas in the EU Strategy for Cooperation in the Indo-Pacific adopted in September 2021. Specifically, investments in secure connectivity through subsea cables, satellites and telecommunications towers will overcome challenges such as isolation and the digital divide and ensure security and resilience in the Pacific.

Through the EFSD+ and public-private partnerships this initiative will overcome the lack of creditworthiness and profitability for projects that are obstacles for better connectivity.
