Bălți regional hospital in the Republic of Moldova

Overview

The project entails the construction and equipping of a regional tertiary care hospital in the northern part of Moldova, specifically in the city of Bălți. The facility will have a capacity of 340 inpatient beds and 78 beds for ambulatory services, covering a total built area of approximately 38,000 m². In addition to delivering modern and specialized healthcare services, the project will also support medical education, providing training for approximately 150 students.

The initiative seeks to address years of underinvestment in healthcare infrastructure in Moldova by introducing modern standards of care and improving access to quality medical services in underserved regions.

The European Commission will finance technical assistance for the development of the preliminary/conceptual design and the technical/detailed design for both construction and equipping of the facility. The project aligns with key national and international policy frameworks, including the Government Action Plan 2021–2022, the National Health Strategy 2022–2023, and the Action Plan for the Implementation of the EU-Moldova Association Agreement.
